The internet has changed everything, including unfortunately the main source of threats to your home computer safety. I’ve been researching this issue for a little while now because I want to present some useful information for people who need to know how to protect themselves while browsing the internet. The good news is that there are some really high quality protection steps you can take to really secure yourself. I know it’s a long read, but this should be well worth your while. First though some background:
One of the nifty features of my new job is a subsidized public transit pass. I co-pay something like 10% of the total cost and my company picks up the rest. This is made extra awesome by the fact that I live close to a light rail station. Since having received the transit pass I have tried to take public transit every day this week. It has been a struggle. My first problem is that I can’t quite figure out how to get from my light rail stop to my office. I know I need to take a bus, but I can’t quite match up bus schedules, bus stops, light rail schedules and light rail stops.
Update: You know how you learn something new and suddenly you see it everywhere? I guess that since I was thinking about being green yesterday I saw it all over the place today… like this sweet site: http://www.korwater.com/. Ok. I get it. It’s a damn water bottle. It’s an expensive water bottle. It’s a deluded water botle. Take these awesome tag lines from their site:
- “Drink a little water, and you’ll be a little healthier. Drink a little water from a reusable container, and the earth will be a little healthier. The KOR ONE hydration vessel will convince you that “green” water tastes better.“
I tried once before to try and change the theme on the site but it didn’t work out so well. This last weekend I was poking around because I was still very dissatisfied with what I had. The problem was with how wide the main content section was. On the old design I was limited to using only sizes up to the Flickr small picture size. If I used a medium size picture it ended up poking over into the sidebar on the right.
