Update4: AoC Launched! My account was canceled for me. Thanks Funcom!

Update3: Seems like most of the people in EA are enjoying the game. That is definitely good news, although since Funcom was so strict with the number of participants it does worry me about potential lag on the actual Launch day where they won’t be able to ratchet down the number of people participating. I’m still hoping for some kind of concession or apology from Funcom over their bad customer service.

Not safe for work because of language and probably because you’ll bust out laughing and everyone will give you the evil “I now know you’re not actually working” eye.

Old, but still so so good.

So how does this happen? I mean… I know how it happened in the macro sense, but how did this specifically happen? Was the car underwater? Did she rear-end a hay truck with a plaid wearing farmer on it?

It looks to me like a scarecrow crawled into the engine compartment and exploded.

I now know what I want for my birthday! This BBQ sword is a giant meat fork and comes with an awesome mask to keep your identity a secret. Perrrrfect.

A sweet action shot.

Ok not really… Do NOT buy me this for my birthday. I wouldn’t use it. I just liked the joke.

GTA4 Pro Tip

Don’t accidentally hold down the “jump out of vehicle while in motion” button while flying a helicopter. Turns out it doesn’t work so well. :)

DISCLogo One of the best things (not the best, that’s a post for another time) that ever came out of the management training provided by the company I work for is the DiSC behavior model class that I was allowed to take. It was one of those classes which really expanded the degree to which I understood the world.

DiSC breaks down social traits into 4 categories (stoled strait from wikipedia!):

For those that don’t already know… the wife and I are building a new modern semi-eco friendly house. We’ve been at it for over two years now (mostly with an architect), but it’s finally starting to go up. Our builder just sent over a link to some new smoke alarms.

See, smoke alarms are one of those things that apparently piss off modernists. You have to have them, but nobody produces a reasonably priced modern looking smoke alarm. I guess it’s been a thorn in the modernist architect’s side for a long time now.

Well… Kidde finally came to the rescue:

Site Issues

I’m not sure why, but on Tuesday a couple things happened.

1. A database permissions table was corrupted and restored from backup.

2. Several files had their permissions reset.

I contacted hostrocket but only got an explanation on the first. There was no reason given for the second problem. The wife and I host 4 different websites with multiple subdomains off of the one account (one of the excellent features of hostrocket) but fortunately the only new site/database was this one. That means that the backup was only missing permissions for this blog. I was able to restore that quickly.

Just watch… it’ll make sense after a bit.

Fascinating.
